About
Welcome to the Baby’s First Calendar news blog.
Baby’s First Calendar is the creation of Dad of 1 Danny (me!).
As a new parent in 2008, I wanted to do everything possible to create a safe environment for my son. Part of this was ensuring that the nursery room was not too hot or too cold, believed to be a factor in cot death.
When researching cot death on FSID’s (The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) website, The UK’s leading baby charity, I discovered the best room temperature for an infant is between 16°c – 20°c and set about finding a simple yet accurate room thermometer.
As time passed my son was reaching new milestones such as sleeping through the night, cutting his first tooth and saying his first word (which was “ball” as it happens!) I used a calendar to record the exact dates of these events.
This is when the idea for Baby’s First Calendar was first conceived, initially Baby’s First Calendar was going to be an advertising medium for retailers, and given free to a small number of new parents, however after some key discussions and further research I decided to make Baby’s First Calendar a full retail product, and now, with the help of Baby’s First Calendar, all parents can ensure a safe sleeping environment for their little ones whilst creating a lifelong keepsake of when their child reached those amazing milestones.
The wealth of information I found on FSID’s website, and because of the fantastic research they carry out on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Baby’s First Calendar Ltd donate 10 pence from the sale of each Baby’s First Calendar direct to FSID, charity no. 262191.
